Rental conditions for a chalet in Gérardmer

Still hesitating? This page answers the questions we are asked most often before a booking. It's written to be read — the full legal detail is in our general terms of rental, which are the only contractual document.

How does a booking work?

You choose your dates and chalet directly online. The booking is confirmed once the stay is paid. The total price — stay, cleaning, tourist tax, extras — is shown before you confirm: no surprises at checkout.

A security deposit is required at the latest on arrival: €490 for the Iorik chalet, €690 for Aslan and Charkhan. It is returned within 10 days of your departure if all is well.

What time can we arrive?

Arrival is from 4 pm. Your departure time is given when you book and reminded in the chalet. If your train or the road makes you late, let us know: we can almost always sort something out.

How many people per chalet?

  • Iorik — 4 guests
  • Aslan — 5 guests
  • Charkhan — 6 guests

These numbers include children of any age. It's not red tape: it's the actual number of beds and the capacity of the facilities.

What is included in the price?

Your stay includes the end-of-stay cleaning, access to the hot tub and the sauna, and a generous energy and water allowance: 24 kWh and 250 litres per day for Iorik, 38 kWh and 600 litres for Aslan and Charkhan. These allowances cover three times normal use — they exist to prevent excess, not to count your showers. Beyond them, only actual consumption is charged, based on meter readings. Bed linen and towels are optional, except with our gift vouchers, where they are included.

You simply leave the chalet tidy: dishes done, rubbish out, fridge emptied. We do the cleaning.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes — it's even one of the reasons our guests come back. One dog per chalet, on prior request, at the rate shown when booking. Please tell us when you book rather than on arrival.

What about charging an electric car?

It's possible on request, once we've agreed, and charged at €0.30 per kWh used. Please don't plug in a vehicle without telling us: not all of the installations are sized for it.

Hot tub and sauna

The hot tub is reserved for the chalet's guests, the sauna for guests of the estate; both are freely accessible during your stay. They are unsupervised: the instructions posted on site are there for your safety. Children must never use them without an adult, and use is not advised after one drink too many, during pregnancy or with a heart condition.

What if I have to cancel?

You can cancel free of charge up to 30 days before arrival — we refund everything you have paid. Between 30 and 7 days before arrival, half of the rental price is refunded. Less than 7 daysbefore arrival, the rental price remains due.

In all cases, the tourist tax and the cleaning fee are refunded in full: these are services we did not provide. Cancellations must be made in writing to contact@les-atypiques-chalets.com, and refunds are made within fourteen days.

If we are the ones unable to host you, we offer you equivalent accommodation; failing that, you are refunded in full within fourteen days.

A tip: take out cancellation insurance if you book well in advance. It costs a few euros and covers the unexpected events our conditions cannot.

Do I need insurance?

Yes. A holiday-rental extension to your home insurance is usually enough — check with your insurer, it is often already included.

In case of disagreement
